Vision & Mission Statement
DAVID GLENN BROWN
After the Los Angeles civil unrest of 1992, graphic artist David G. Brown felt young people in the city needed a hero to show them there was a better way.  So, the following year with a grant from the Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department he created one.  Brown published a comic book featuring the  "L..A.Pheonix" an African American super hero who rises from the ashes of the Los Angeles riots, symbolic of the city's healing, spreading good will and showing citizens how to rebuild.  As a result of media expose and a positive response from the community, he was invited to speak to young people and begins conducting art workshops at the Watts Towers Art Center, William Grant Still Art Center, High Schools and Libraries throughout Los Angeles.
Over the preceding years Brown has published numerous comics with positive messages targeting young people.  In 1996 he began publishing a series of comic books written and drawn by his students entitled  "Tales from the Kids."  Brown says, "...the overall goal of these books are to provide young girls and boys with a vehicle to express themselves and ideas through the comic book medium.  Additionally the positive stories serve as a learning tool for the young readers."  In 1998 he collaborated with the Alcohol and Drug Council of Greater Los Angeles to create a comic book exploring the twelve step recovery program, "STEPS to a Drug free Life."

David G. Brown has accumulated various awards for his work by the community and peers.  In 1994 he received this first of four PRAME (Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Excellence) awards and Arts and Entertainment "Living History Maker" award from Turning Point magazine.  He has received grants from the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, Library Foundation, the Ahmanson Foundation, Hollywood Beautification Team and Share Inc.

Browns projects have gained national expose through television interviews and articles including; CNN, KCET "L..A.. Kids", NBC "Unsung Heroes", CBS "Some one you should know", Turner Entertainment "Hollywood Report", Emerge magazine, Los Angeles Times and other news media.

In addition to his community work, Brown works as an Art Director and Production Manager for the marketing firm L.J. Guild  and a number of other clients including  Southern California Tennis & Golf Magazine, Warner Brothers Motion Pictures, ABC-TV and Princess Cruise.
